Only having just recently hit the big screens and already ‘Barfi’ (2012), has been receiving rave reviews from everyone. Fans cannot stop raving about the outstanding performances from the actors and the way the story has been told. Among these many, is Karan Johar who is starting to feel a little less confident about his directional skills after watching the film.
As reported byHindustan Times, one of Johar’s tweets read, “I just sawBarfi!…I have never felt more limited, inferior and talentless. Anurag Basuis the god of all filmmakers… his genius isBarfi!”
Ranbir Kapoor who plays the lead deaf-mute character, has definitely raised the bar with his performance, with Johar stating further, “Ranbir Kapoor has given the mostoutstanding performance… he deserves a running ovation! It will be an honour to work with him.”
Not forgetting the leading ladies, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz, as well as the rest of the team, Johar went on to state, “Priyanka Chopra is justbrilliantas Jhilmil. Superbly nuanced and pitch perfect. Her portrayal lingers long after the film.. Well done Ileana (D’Cruz)!!!Superbdebut… and Kudos to all at UTV for this masterpiece that defines the barometer of modern cinema.”
Though Johar in known to have a very family, over-the-top, filmy genre in making films (which he has been extremely successful at), his upcoming film ‘Student Of The Year’ is targeted more to the young adult generation of audiences. So is seems like Basu has defiantly made him feel rather nervous, for doing something different. Though, with all this praise, it sure looks like Johar has his eyes on Kapoor and maybe even his leading ‘Barfi’ ladies, and he maybe hinting something.
