Karan Johar confirms returning to directing in mid-2019

Karan Johar recently gifted himself a five-day birthday vacation in New York. The Big Apple’s landscape, energy and people have long been part of his cinematic history so it’s natural that he picked the city for some much-needed rest.

“I have worked non-stop for the last year (including Sundays) and I am happy that my office has actually granted me a short break (smiles). My gift to myself on my 46th birthday today is this long-haul flight to NY,” he said to the media. He also expressed his delight at the success of ‘Raazi,’ (2018) reports DNA India.

“Right now, all of us are just celebrating the film. We’re extremely grateful to Meghna Gulzar for giving us this wonderfully empowering movie that is still winning hearts. Raazi is an important production for us and we are truly happy with the way it is going.”

Without giving much away, Johar also confirmed that he will be returning to directing next year with a new project. He told Hindustan Times, “I have locked a screenplay and I am going to direct a film around mid-next year. I look forward to casting for it as soon as I come back from New York.”
