Kangna Ranaut, who has announced she is turning to direction, will also be acting as the lead in her directorial debut. Ranaut will be seen playing an 80 year old woman in the comedy genre.
Ranaut made the decision to move into filmmmaking after finishing her current project ‘Manikarnika’. The title of her directorial venture will be ‘Teju’ and will see the actress playing the role of the elderly protagonist. “She is a warm vibrant woman, full of life, who doesn’t feel old at all,” she said as reported in DNA India. The film will explore the issues of old age and mortality in an uplifting manner. “These are questions that all of us ask ourselves and each other from time to time. We will explore them in a light-hearted manner in my film dappled with the sunshine of Teju’s personality,” she added.
There’s no doubting Ranaut’s acting talent so it will be interesting to see her in this new avatar. As well as directing the film she is also scripting and producing it and hoping for a release at the end of 2018.
