Kangna Ranaut on why she’s not a “sati savitri”
It’s fair to say that Kangna Ranaut is one actress who has had to constantly fight her way to the top. After a long struggle to follow her dreams and attaining success, the actress has come out and revealed all that she had to go through.
Talking to the media,��Deccan Chronicle��reported the actress explaining how though she came from a very conservative almost old-fashioned family background; where girls were seen as a burden, she did all that she could to become the person she is now. “Growing up, I was made to believe that I was a liability but somehow, despite all these outdated notions surrounding me, I never actually felt that way. I never thought of myself as a burden, so I challenged the beliefs of my parents. Leaving home was my only option and since then, I have gone through failure, humiliation, rejection and even abuse. And it has all taught me so much.”
Even when she came into the industry, Ranaut was criticised in every aspect, which though almost impossible; she also managed to conquer, “The world thought of me as a loser when I started out but I never saw myself as a loser. I know that it is all that rejection and failure that has helped shape me into what you see today. I was ridiculed because of my poor grasp of English and so I took that as a cue to learn English and then reach out to more people.”
Being a part of an industry where your every move is open for opinionated discussion, Ranaut took everything that was being said about her in her stride and defeated her demons.Even if it meant going against her parents wishes she knew she was doing the right thing for herself. “Most people thought, ��she must be a bitch, being in control of herself. The urban feminist. The lizard with frizzy hair!’��I�۪m not a sati savitri. I�۪m bad ass!”
Despite all her troubles, it seems Ranaut’s hard work has paid off very well. With a wide number of huge hits, portraying different characters, she has definitely shown all those who were against her what she is made of. From the way her career is growing, it doesn’t look like the actress will be stopping any time soon.
