Kangna Ranaut is known for encouraging women empowerment and speaking out against the gender pay gap within the industry. The three time National Award winning actress has shared that she is not just a fan of director-producer Hansal Mehta’s sensitive approach of presenting subjects on-screen but also admires his understanding and respect towards the fairer sex in real life.

Ranaut and Mehta will be seen pairing up for the first time for a project titled ‘Simran’ and, according to reports byIndian Express, the 29 year old shared fond words and praises for her director with PTI, “Hansal [Mehta] is one of the most one of the most incredible and genuine talents that we have today. His Aligarh۪ has by far been the best film India has seen in last 10 years and apart from being talented, he is a wonderful person.”

The star who won hearts with her performances in movies such as ‘Queen'(2014), ‘Fashion'(2008) and ‘Gangster'(2006), added, “The other day I called him, he told me he was ironing his daughters۪ clothes. He treats his wife equally, he divides jobs with her. He is a true-blue feminist. I love him for that and have so much respect for him.”

Ranaut believes it is because of these beliefs that the ‘Dus Kahaniyaan'(2007) director has always been protective and supportive of her.

The 29 year old also appears to be learning a lot due to Mehta’s liberal work methods. Making comparisons with critically acclaimed director Anurag Basu, she revealed further, “The best part about him_ After Anurag Basu, he is one director who does not give you a full-fledged script in hand. He won۪t give you dialogues. Every day is a new day with him. He leaves it to the environment to inspire him, to his surroundings to tell him what scene he should shoot_ He is a person who lives life with a lot of consciousness. I am a huge fan of him.”
