Her film’s have been rather unconventional compared to her contemporary’s and though it has taken a while, it seems actress Kangana Ranaut is finally being applauded for her work.

With both her recent releases being widely accepted by critics and audiences alike, Ranaut is indeed overwhelmed by the response. “I feel like this is a beautiful time of my life. I’ve never been respected or treated the way I am right now, the way people have really acknowledged what I do. It is nice,” NDTVreported the actress expressing.

Representing an innocent, soft-spoken sweetheart in ‘Queen’ (2014) to then playing a feisty and fearless character in ‘Revolver Rani’ (2014), definitely worked in Ranaut’s favour, where she was able to prove both her acting skills and that the eccentric narratives work just as well as the traditional ones.

Talking about the way in which she is viewed now to when she first started, Ranaut went onto say, “The perception has changed. But also, initially, there weren’t so many great roles, and actresses were all about glamorous people, with roles where they were tortured by the world, it was all about making a stereotypical film. But there is a variety of films now, and it’s great.”

To top things off for the actress, Ranaut was awarded Actor of the Year at the NDTV Indian of the Year Awards recently. Talking of her accomplishment, the actress was reported expressing, “It is credible. First, I said no for the award, then I got a personal letter from Prannoy Roy (the channel’s head honcho) and it convinced me to come here. It is not a filmy award – they award people from all fields, and that’s why I came.”
