Kangana Ranaut issued court summons for remarks made against Javed Akhtar

Yesterday, the Mumbai court issued a summons to Kangana Ranaut in response to an offence of defamation, alleged by Javed Akhtar. The lyricist alleged that Ranaut had made defamatory comments against him in an interview by using his name when referring to a ‘coterie’ existing in Bollywood.

The Andheri metropolitan magistrate in December last year directed the Juhu police to conduct an inquiry into the complaint filed by Akhtar against the star before the court back in November, reports Box Office Worldwide. The police, on Monday, then submitted their report to the court and stated offences alleged by Akhtar against Ranaut were made out from further investigations.

Following the report, Magistrate R R Khan, issued summons to Ranaut and a hearing from the court is scheduled for 1st March. Akhtar, in his plea, claimed that the “baseless comments” made by Ranaut had caused damage to his reputation.
