Kalki Koechlin stands byDeepika Padukone’s ‘My Choice’ video

Margarita with a straw - kalki koechlin

Vogue India’s ‘My Choice’ video, starring Deepika Padukone, seems to have inducedmany different reactions. While some are in favour of the video, others feel it is offensive and does not actually promote women empowerment. Kalki Koechlin recently shared her views on the video.

Speaking to PTI, Koechlin said, “It is a very good thing that she has done, going out and saying what your choices are. If a man goes out at night and leaves his home, nobody is going to ask him where he is going… If a woman does, you are going to ask her where she is going. So, in that vein, this is the spirit of the video.”

However, understanding that the video has upset a section of the public Koechlin went on to add, “…what this video has become is this boys vs girls drama, like feminists are man-haters, this is a big disillusion because feminism means equality and men can be feminist too so I think it would be a great to do a video of my choice where there are both men and women.”

The video has been directed by Homi Adajania, who has directed Bollywood movies such as Padukone starrer ‘Cocktail’ (2012). It can be noted that the filmmaker’swife, Anaita Shroff Adajania, is the fashion director for Vogue India.
