Kalki Koechlin to release poetry video on World Music Day

The world of Bollywood is full of multi-talented artists, many of whom progress in second or third talents simultaneously. One such actress is Kalki Koechlin who is set to debut in the world of music with a video of her poem, which will release on World Music Day (21st June).

Talking about the poem titled ‘Noise’, Mumbai Mirror reports the actress explaining, “I wrote this poem last October for a poetry slam competition in Bangalore and performed it for the opening ceremony. The topic was the overwhelming amount of noise in the country, be it religious or political, or the deafening sounds in our heads. By highlighting them, we want to highlight the value of silence.”

Directed by Akansha Seda the video is shot in Mumbai, depicting on a range of sounds such as traffic, markets, phone ring tones, chants, religious chants and more.

Talking about working with Seda and how releasing the video on World Music Day came to them, Koechlin went on to say, “I met Akansha in May and read the poem out to her. We were working on ideas when she mentioned World Music Day. It was a challenge meeting the deadline while procuring the natural noise in the city and making music out of it.”
