Kabir Khan describes the last day at Lords as “magical”

The team of ’83’ first arrived in the UK earlier this summer to kick start the filming of the Kapil Dev biopic. The final schedule was wrapped up last week and director Kabir Khan couldn’t be happier.

Reported by Pinkvilla, Ranveer Singh took to social media to praise the entire team of ’83’, as they completed the London schedule. Khan also shared his delight with the team’s achievement and said, “I knew ’83’ was an ambitious film and we have achieved more than what we had planned.”

The preparations leading up to filming in London started last year, Khan explains it wasn’t plain sailing, “Securing permissions to film at some places, like inside Lords Cricket ground was not easy. This is the first unit that has ventured into the player’s locker room and the long room there.”

While the team were here in the UK, the ICC Cricket World Cup was also taking place, Khan said being surrounded by the cricketing giants was a blessing. “We got so much goodwill from legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Jimmy Amarnath, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, that even the rain gods helped us out.”

As the final shoot came to a close at Lords, Khan defined their last day as magical.

’83’ is slated to release in April 2020. Deepika Padukone will play Singh’s reel wife as Romi Dev and his co-stars who make up the winning cricket team alomgside Singh include, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Ammy Virk, Harrdy Sandhu, Jiva, Sahil Khattar, Chirag Patil, Adinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa, Dinker Sharma, Jatin Sarna, Nishant Dahiya, R Badree, Pankaj Tripathi and Zakir Hussain.
