It seems film-makers simply can’t get enough of Amitabh Bachchan films of late. With ‘Agneepath’ (2012) getting a modern take and the’Zanjeer’ remake on the way, news not has it that the next in line is 1981’s ‘Kaalia’.

It seems producer Rajat Rawail also has three actors in mind for the lead role; Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn. Once again, Bachchan’s shoes are big to fill so one wonders who will end up being confirmed. Rawail talks about acquiring the rights for the film, according to Times of India, “I’m indebted to Salman Bhai because whatever I’m today is after his association with my film, Ready. I have a high regard for Ajay Sir for the brilliant actor he is and Akshay Sir is one of the biggest box-office phenomena”.

Rawail, it seems, hopes to rework a couple of the original tracks from the film for the new version and he believes that the brand of ‘Kaalia’ of 1981 will be more hard-hitting in today’s day and age. If Karan Johar’s new take on ‘Agneepath’ (1990) is anything to go by, audiences are very much in for a treat, specifically the new generation who may not remember the original ‘Kaalia’.
