The case of Snapdeal executive Dipti Sarna who kidnapped but soon returned safely has been making headlines. The abductor is now in police custody and claims he was influenced by the film ‘Darr’ (1993) starring Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla.

According to Hindustan Times, the man behind the kidnapping said he took inspiration from the film to follow Sarna for 14 months before kidnapping her. Talking about the case, the lead actor Chawla said, “At the end of the day, we always show that truth triumphs. We don’t leave the movie in the middle saying, ‘great, pick whatever you want to and go out there and do something wrong’. Bollywood is not the only influence in a person’s life. They are also affected by their family and friends.”

On the topic, even Mahesh Bhatt feels it’s silly to blame Bollywood and said that life inspires films and the films contribute to real-life events, an age-old debate, which can never be resolved. If books and movies could change the world, the world would become a paradise, according to Bhatt.
