Juhi Chawla: Bollywood stars not accepted in fiction TV shows
Juhi Chawla, who was last seen in Anubhav Sinha۪s Gulaab Gang۪, has become very selective over the scripts she decides to sign. When questioned on whether she would be willing to act on Indian television, the actress says she feels that Bollywood actors working in fiction shows on television does not work.
It is true that many Bollywood stars are doing television, but they are limited to doing reality shows as judges or hosts. But a Bollywood star in a fiction show has not worked. Even though the audience loves and accepts us as actors in films, Bollywood actors are not accepted as characters in fiction shows on TV. May be the larger than life image of Bollywood stars makes it difficult for people to accept us, as television is more about normal and everyday people, Chawla said in an interview to Ahmedabad Times.
A number of Bollywood stars, such as Sridevi, Karisma Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan, have attempted to act on the small screen. Bachchan was the latest addition to this list, with his television show, Yudh۪ on Sony, which unfortunately received a lukewarm response.
Interestingly, Chawla has recently become the brand ambassador for the recently launched channel, Sony Pal.
