‘JTHJ’ smashes ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ record at UK box office

The release of ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ on the unconventional Tuesday was bound to put it at an advantage by the weekend, one would have thought. In the UK, arguably, box office figures may well pick up over the weekend. However, BizAsia can reveal that the movie has smashed opening day records previously held by ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ (2012).

During the first day, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ collected a whopping �96, 663 but ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ made a tremendous �1, 58, 342 .

In New Zealand, ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ became the first Hindi film to achieve overall top position at the box office, overtaking even Hollywood biggies on the day.

It remains to be seen whether by the fifth day, ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ surpasses the Rs.100 crore mark which ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ did a few months ago.
