All was not well between the makers of both ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ (2012) and ‘Son of Sardaar’ (2012) before they released on Diwali day. However, reports suggest that, in India, ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ has overtaken ‘Son of Sardaar’ at the box office.

Reportedly, ‘Son of Sardaar’ made Rs 71.23 whereas ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ collected Rs 86.73. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed, as per Times of India, “This is the best Diwali every for the film industry. A business of Rs 200 cr in matter of just six days”. He also confirmed that although it was the case that ‘Son of Sardaar’ opened in fewer screens, both films had been��doing well.

There has been a suggestion that business in India for a Diwali release has gone up by 30% which makes it a particularly fruitful time for exhibitors.
