Journalist Karan Thapar defects from CNN IBN to Headlines Today

Senior journalist and presenter at CNN IBN will be shifting to rival, Headlines Today this week.

Television Post reports that Thapar has been with the TV18 news channel for over ten years where he was hosting ‘The Devil’s Advocate’ and ‘The Last Word’. The publication reports that he will be shifting to the TV Today Group on Tuesday.

In the UK, Headlines Today is available as a dual channel, with sister service, Aaj Tak on Sky channel 818. The move for Thapar will no doubt be a blow for CNN-IBN, just days before the general elections in India.

Headlines Today is placed fourth in the pecking order of the competitive English news channels market in India. Times Now leads, followed by CNN-IBN and NDTV 24×7. However, with each story, the rankings of news channels changes.
