John Abraham to play footballer Shibdas Bhaduri

After ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal’ (2007), John Abraham is set to play a footballer again, this time as Indian professional footballer, Shibdas Bhaduri.

According to Deccan Chronicle and previously reported by BizAsiaLive.com, he will be seen to play Bhaduri set in 1911, captaining the Kolkata football club ‘Mohun Bagan’.  The film will be based on the 1911 IFA Shield Final, where the team beat the East Yorkshire Regiment.  The film is very dear to the actor, as he loves the game so much.

Abraham’s favorite was Shoojit Sircar, to collaborate on this film, but the director had to opt out.  A source commented, “John Abraham wanted to make a film on football for a very long time but he felt that it was going over-budget. So he had shelved it for two years and is now scouting for a director.”

The actor is also producing the film and he believes the film will be levels above his previous productions such as ‘Vicky Donor’ (2012) and ‘Madras Cafe’ (2013).
