John Abraham opens up about his two-year break

John Abraham

John Abraham has been missing from the big screen since his last, the critically acclaimed, ‘Madras Caf̩’ (2013). While the film did average, Abraham was on a much needed break since. Abraham is known for his acting, producing film career, as well as managing a football team.

To the Deccan Chronicle, Abraham spoke about his comeback in ‘Welcome Back’. He said, “It’s good that I am coming back after a break. This break was very much needed. When you are doing a few films back-to-back, you need to take a break to recharge. I am back to doing what I do best-comedy.”

On producing, he said, “I remember all the big production houses didn’t even take five seconds to reject the content of Madras Caf̩ telling us-John doesn’t have any action, also there is no romance between Nargis Fakhri and John. We almost took six years to ready the script and they just threw it out in five seconds. Finally we decided to produce the film ourselves. And I am a proud of the fact that I am doing what I am best at- looking and sorting out good content.”

Lastly, for Abraham, managing his football team is his year round job. He stated, “This is a year round job for me. Football is the new cricket, as a lot of youngsters between the age group of 15 and 24 are watching football. Baichung Bhutia helped us a lot in the team selection.”

‘Welcome Back’ is slated to release on 4th September, after which, Abraham will also be seen in a cameo appearance in Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s, ‘Jazbaa’.
