John Abraham: “I can never do an adult-comedy”

John Abraham is one actor that has exceeded all expectations ever since he debuted in 2003. Now also wearing a producers hat, Abraham’s contribution to the film industry has been remarkable. Though, despite his reputation at the start being somewhat of an actor who will do explicit films, he has recently come out and said he would never actually do an adult-comedy film.

In a recent interaction with the media, Times of India reports the actor stating, “What I can never do is an adult-comedy, because I am not comfortable with it. It’s something I can’t act or even produce.”

This may come as a surprise to most, as his first film ‘Jism’ (2003) opposite ex-beau Bipasha Basu, was not exactly for younger audiences. Talking of his producing gene, Abraham has always been keen on ensuring his production house is known for thought-provoking storytelling. Explaining how he tries to balance serious films with more light-hearted ones the actor-producer expressed, “When people see a film made by my production house, they should know that they will get to see something different. But as an actor, it’s essential to do all kinds of films. Movies like ‘Pagalpanti’ (2019) and ‘Satyameva Jayate’ (2018) are the ones that I want to purely act in, whereas films like ‘Parmanu’ and ‘Batla House’ are the sorts that I will produce and act in.”

When asked why he doesn’t act in all of the films he produces, Abraham explained, “The thought is not to power a film with my presence, but to create something entirely new. My vision is to tell great stories through films, but not necessarily with me in all of them.”

Looking at his filmography at a glance, it’s evident that Abraham likes to get stuck into various films, however, there is one particular genre he is very keen to get his teeth stuck into. “What I would love to do is a horror film; that’s a space I am keen to explore.”

Whether he wants to act or produce in a film that frightens his audience is yet to be known, however, it’s fair to say he will definitely get them filling up theatres rather quickly.
