John Abraham hikes fee for ‘Ek Villain Returns’ & ‘Pathan’

John Abraham’s box office presence continues to grow after ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’ (2021) and ‘Batla House’ (2019). And then for a fee of Rs. 20 crores, the star has joined Aditya Chopra’s ‘Pathan,’ before signing on for ‘Ek Villain Returns’.

According to reports, Abraham agreed to join Mohit Suri’s ‘Ek Villain Returns’ for Rs. 21 crores. A source was cited saying in Box Office Worldwide, “His market rate has been on an upward swing – the amount paid for Batla House was more than Satyameva Jayate, the amount he got for SMJ 2 was more than Batla House, the amount he got for Pathan was more than SMJ 2 and finally, his fees for Ek Villain Returns is higher than Pathan.”

The source went on to say, “Over the last 3 years, John’s acting fees have jumped from Rs. 7 crores to Rs. 21 crores,” reports Box Office Worldwide.

‘Ek Villain Returns’ releases in July later this year. Abraham appears alongside Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria, who play the female roles. And as expected, it is a sequel to Suri’s original, ‘Ek Villain’ (2014), which starred Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh, and Shraddha Kapoor.

‘Ek Villain Returns’ is currently in post-production. Meanwhile, Abraham is currently deep in filming for ‘Pathan.’
