John-Abhishek team up for ‘Dostana 2’ without Priyanka

For some time now, fans and audiences have been witness to speculation as to whether a sequel to 2008’s ‘Dostana’ was going to be made. BizAsia can confirm that the sequel is on in which John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan will be reprising their roles.

Although it had emerged that Karan Johar had given the nod to Tarun Mansukhani for a second instalment, the film has taken some time to take off. An earlier suggestion was that the sequel would have a London backdrop but, according to Mumbai Mirror, the film will in fact be set in Punjab. An insider confirmed, “Dostana 2 will begin with Abhishek and John shifting base from Miami to Punjab”.

The source also stated that the sequel will be funnier and also hinted that Abraham will be swapping his sexy yellow swimming trunks for a dhoti this time round. The source continued, “It took a long time to lock the script. Dostana was a hit and neither Karan nor Tarun wanted to take any chances with the sequel. They wanted a script that would ensure another success at the box-office”.

The buzz also suggests that Priyanka Chopra who played the hot character of Neha in 2008 will not be a part of the forthcoming instalment. In fact, makers are yet to cast a female lead.
