‘Jodha Akbar’ to replace ‘Rab Se Sona…’ on ZEE TV

Ekta Kapoor’s much talked about new magnum opus ‘Jodha Akbar’ will be replacing ‘Rab Se Sona Ishq’ later this month, BizAsia can exclusively confirm.

The new costume drama is based on a sixteenth century love story about a political marriage of convenience between a Mughal emperor, Akbar, and a Rajput princess, Jodha. Apparently, Kapoor’s decision to make the TV version of the show was inspired by Ashutosh Gowariker’s huge success on the big screen in 2008, which starred Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

‘Jodha Akbar’ stars Rajat Tokas, Paridhi Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar and Chetan Hansraj.

‘Jodha Akbar’ launches on Monday 17th June (India) and Tuesday 18th June (UK). In the UK, the show will take the 20:00 slot replacing ‘Rab Se Sona Ishq’, which is being axed due to rock bottom ratings.
