Jayaraj R Nair to make film on the Nirbhaya case?

The National Award winning film director Jayaraj R Nair is planning on making a movie based on theNirbhaya case using Delhi as the backdrop.

In the Times of India, Nair explains how he was moved to make a film upon reading about the Nirbhaya case.”When the Delhi gang-rape case happened, I was so moved that I had this urge to make a film about the case, and I might take that up. It will be soon that I will come up with a script with Delhi as the backdrop. Delhi is always a mystery to me. What is striking about this city is that it appears to be very calm and peaceful, but the Delhi that we know through newspaper reports is very different, so I would like to uncover the mystery around it,” says Nair.

Nair who is currently working on his forthcoming film ‘Veeram’ (2016), says he likes to invest more on the technical aspect of the film instead of the actors. “In my films, I spend 75% money on the technical part and 25% on actors. In India, the opposite usually happens – 75% of the film’s budget is for actors and less than 25% is invested in technical aspects. This is one reason for our films not being at par with international ones.”
