Jay Sean documentary up for BBC Music Award

Dipesh Bhagat, DB Media, Stephen Bailey, Euroscope TV and Phil Basi, have been nominated for a BBC production broadcast in 2011 on the red button.

‘Jay Sean – The Story So Far’ presented by Tommy Sandhu, and directed by Phil Basi, charted Jay Sean’s story so far, a documentary charting the success story of Jay Sean with live performances from his much anticipated home-coming set at London Mela 2011.

This was a new way of profiling music artists for BBC Asian Network working on many levels. Asian Network gave his fans access to seeing him live in conversation as well performing live at London Mela, where Asian Network programme the main stage. For all those who couldn’t make it to either event the red button programme allowed audiences to see both events in an exciting and well-structured tv package.

Audio & Music Is the home of nine of the BBC’s national radio stations, six Performing Groups and the BBC Proms as well as classical and pop music production across radio, television and online.

Nominations for the annual awards are selected by BBC executives and the awards are designed to celebrate programmes, production teams and the extraordinary individuals who help make audio & music such a creative place to work.

Executive Producers, Stephen Bailey, Manish Pradhan & assistance from Mintu Rahman from the BBC Asian Network Interactive, initiated the project early in 2011 after the success of the UKAMAS on the red button, The summer of melas, and the IIFA awards coverage from Toronto, Canada, on the BBC Asian Network.

Dipesh Bhagat, Stephen Bailey and Phil Bassi are nominated in the ‘Best Music Production’ category. and the show ‘Jay Sean – The Story So Far on BBC Red Button’ on BBC Asian Network Interactive.
