Newspapers

The popular brand, Jang London is reportedly facing a tough time with a company restructure underway. This news was made public by its Editor, who announced his exit on Facebook this week.

Iftikhar Qaisar, who was the Editor of Jang London and Bureau Chief of Geo TV, UK/Europe (Geo News) said, “I am happy to announce my early retirement from Urdu Journalism after 33 years, 30 of with Jang and Geo News London. I have been thinking about this for the last year and half but did not chose to leave then because Jang group were under immense and unreasonable pressure from different forces. This decision is due to redundancy notices given yesterday to all Jang London journalists including printing press and reception staff.
Jang have told us that they are in financial trouble in London and can no longer provide financial support from Pakistan anymore. If It is sounds as if Jang London is closing down completely that is not true. They inform us that they will keep two junior editorial staff and staff will be asked to apply for the posts. Jang London have my full support and I am leaving with good wishes and lots of Dual.”

Going by Qaisar’s Facebook message, Jang London will be restructured with just two junior editorial retaining their positions and others re-applying for their roles.
