Deepika Padukone had started this year by tweeting about her support for mental health awareness, after having confessed that she herself has battled depression in the past. Jacqueline Fernandez says she respects Padukone for having been so honest and for supporting such a cause.

“I am really glad that Deepika spoke about it because I don’t think people should be ashamed of the emotions they go through. I have always been someone who has advocated honesty and I really respect her for being vocal and honest… I guess every human being goes through it (depression),” Fernandez saidtoDNA India.

Fernandez also went on to add that she too has gone through low phases, feeling depressed. The actress cited examples such as when she came to India for the first time and times when she was sitting at home with no movies at hand.

At present, Fernandez is busy promoting her upcoming film, ‘Roy’. Also starring Arjun Rampal and Ranbir Kapoor, the action-thriller is slated to release on 13th February.
