Jackky Bhagnani wants to produce meaningful films

Jackky Bhagnani

Making the transition from actor to producer is no easy task, howeverJackky Bhagnani is taking the plunge, and is ready to take his fathers production house to new heights in producing. With his debut film as a producer nearing release, Bhagnani expressed how he wants to represent meaningful stories.

Talking about the production company that he shared with his father and sister,DNA India reported him stating, “It is a division of Pooja Films, which belongs to my father. I have always wanted to make more meaningful and different cinema that are content. Pooja Films is primarily known for larger-than-life, commercial films. That is why my sister Deepshikha and I decided to have a separate division for differential cinema.”

With the forthcoming ‘Sarbjit’ being his fist solo production, Bhagnani spoke about what made him pick this story out of all the others. “It is a great story that needs to be told. Like Sarbjit there are many innocent Indians who have been languishing in Pakistani jails. A Mumbai engineer Hamid Ansari who went there in search of his love is in jail for over three years. Then there was Kripal Singh whose body was returned to India with his liver and heart missing,” he explained.

Starring Randeep Hooda and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the film is an adaptation of the true events that occurred, after an village farmer from India crossed the Pakistan borders by mistake, and was arrested on suspicion of being an Indian spy. The film tells the story of the farmer’s sister’s fight for her brother justice.

Talking ofHooda and Rai Bachchan, Bhagnani expressed, “What Randeep Hooda has brought to the film is unique. No other actor could have done what he has. In fact, both Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and he are perfect for the film.”

Directed by Omung Kumar, ‘Sarbjit’ is set to hit the big screens on 20th May.
