‘Jaan Tere Naam’ sequel plans in motion

With sequels and remakes flavour of the season, filmmaker Deepak Balraj Vij has confirmed that he is working on a sequel on the 1992 musical hit ‘Jaan Tere Naam’.

The film, which starred Ronit Roy and Farheen, will have new stars involved in the sequel. The new stars will be finalised this month. Lyricist Javed Akhtar, music director Anu Malik and choreographer Longinus Fernandes have already been signed for the film.

“It has been 21 years since `Jaan Tere Naam` released and I have been toying with the idea of directing it all over again with an entirely fresh setting, concept and newcomers,” Vij said in a statement here.

“We intend to hold a nationwide talent hunt to select the lead pair. The story idea is ready and if all things fall into place we should finalise the lead pair by August end and start shooting in September or October.” he said.
