Sushant Singh Rajput, who with his stint in ‘Kai Po Che!’ (2013) found a renowned place in Bollywood, regrets not connecting with Kolkata before doing his upcoming flick ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!’, which is based on fictional detective character Byomkesh Bakshy in Kolkata during the 1940s.

He also claimed that he has fallen in love with the city so deeply that at times he feels himself like a Bengali. The actor told Hindustan Times, “I went to Kolkata with my director (Dibakar Banerjee) to get connected to the city and the food played a vital role in making it easier for me to connect.”

“I’ve tried the six-course meal. Mishti Doi, all the sweets, Maachh Bhaat and I love them.I feel I was unfortunate not to connect with such a beautiful city before. So while researching, I sent few days in the city and finished my homework. Now, the city has made me feel like a Bengali myself,” he added.

However, the actor says that he didn’t have to take Bengali learning classes to master the diction for his upcoming flick ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!’, which will hit silver screens on 3rd April.
