ITV1 to cut episodes for ‘Coronation Street’ & ‘Emmerdale’ in major changes
ITV1 has announced significant schedule changes, set to take effect from 2026, which will see ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘Emmerdale’ reduced in runtime.
Currently, ‘Coronation Street’ airs hour-long episodes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8pm, while ‘Emmerdale’ broadcasts half-hour episodes at 7:30pm every weekday, except Thursdays when it extends to an hour.
From 2026, both soaps will transition to back-to-back 30-minute episodes every weekday. This new format introduces a “soaps power hour,” with ‘Emmerdale’ airing at 8:00pm, followed by ‘Coronation Street’ at 8:30pm.
