ITV has confirmed that it will broadcast highlights of this year’s ICC World Cup, starting next month.

As part of the joint proposal with Sky, Ofcom said that a consultation has been put forward for Sky to broadcast the cricket matches in their entirety, while ITV will air a highlights package of each game. ITV said it will transmit highlights lasting between 60 – 90 minutes at 22:00. Furthermore, ITV said the highlights of all England matches (including the match against Scotland) would be shown on ITV1; while the highlights of the Semi-finals and the Final will be broadcast on ITV1 if England reaches this stage of the tournament. If England does not qualify for the Semi-finals and the Final, ITV۪s intention is to schedule the highlights of these matches on ITV4. The highlights of the remaining five Scotland matches at the group stage will be broadcast on ITV4.

Ofcom further notes that the BBC intends to provide live commentary on BBC Radio Five Live.

The Final, Semi-finals and matches involving home teams in the Cricket World Cup are Group B listed events for the purposes of The Code on Sports and Other Listed and Designated Events. Under the Broadcasting Act 1996, Ofcom۪s consent is needed for exclusive live coverage of these events.

Ofcom invites broadcasters and other interested parties to comment by 10th February 2015.
