ITV has confirmed broadcast details for this year’s Indian Premier League, which kicks off on Wednesday (16th April).

This time, the first game will feature defending champions Mumbai Indians starting their campaign against 2012 winners Kolkata Knight Riders at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi after it was announced the opening matches of the tournament would be held in the United Arab Emirates.

Major stars of the game including Kevin Pietersen, Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Jacques Kallis and Mitchell Johnson will all be involved in the T20 tournament as eight sides battle it out for the title.

Competing in the IPL this year alongside Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders are Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

It is ITV4۪s fifth year covering the competition and Matt Smith and Shonali Nagrani return as main anchors with Isa Guha as co-presenter. The team of pundits alongside them will include former England captains Michael Vaughan and Alec Stewart, as well as former cricketers Akash Chopra, Mark Butcher, Dominic Cork, Mark Ramprakash, Simon Hughes and Owais Shah.

Niall Sloane, ITV’s Director of Sport, said, “I۪m delighted that the Indian Premier League will once again bring big-hitting thrills and spills to ITV4 viewers.۝

This year’s Indian Premier League will broadcast on ITV4 for the final time before it is shifted to Sky Sports next year. BSkyB won the telecast rights of the tournament earlier this year for three years starting in 2015.
