ITV acquisitions director Jay Kandola to leave

The ITV director of acquisitions, Jay Kandola, is to leave the ITV network.

Kandola, who joined ITV three years ago from Channel Five where she held a similar post, was responsible for bringing US shows such as ITV1’s Pushing Daisies.

ITV said in a statement: “Jay Kandola will be stepping down from her role as ITV’s Director of Acquisitions in June as part of ITV’s restructuring programme. She joined ITV three years ago from Five where she held a similar post. Her departure comes as a result of acquisitions playing a lesser role on ITV in the coming years.”

According to MediaGuardian, ITV plans to close down the standalone acquisitions department and merge it with the digital channels division, with Kandola’s director role being made redundant.

Kandola has previously worked the BBC and Channel 4.
