Is Ekta Kapoor pulling the plug on ‘Kasamh Se’?

The industry is abuzz with speculation that Ekta Kapoor is planning to wrap-up ZEE TV’s popular drama ‘Kasamh Se’ by May this year.

According to Mumbai Mirror, sources from Balaji Telefilms have indicated that the show cannot progress without its principal character Bani (Prachi Desai) and therefore, the popular soap might be soon on its way out.

A cast member, on condition of anonymity, reveals, “We have heard that the show will be discontinued from May. However, Balaji Telefilms has not made any formal announcement.”

The story goes that the soap doesn’t have too many parallel storylines and the focus has been mainly on Bani (Prachi). The last few months saw the writers of the show doing away with many of the functional characters – Pia (Roshni Chopra) and Rano (Arunima Sharma).

However, Ekta Kapoor maintains that the channel has no intentions of wrapping up the popular soap. The producer intends to rope in a fresh face for the character of Bani in the coming months. She says, “Prachi gave Bani her identity, and we will miss her. But now Bani will find a new face.”

Kapoor is already holding auditions to find the next face who will replace Prachi as Bani. A source close to the producer says, “Yes, we intend to get a new actor in Prachi’s place. But it’s going to be a tough task.”
