Irrfan Khan has long been linked to the sequel of his 2017 sleeper hit ‘Hindi Medium’.
The actor who was expected to return for the sequel, was suddenly admitted for surgery last year for cancer treatment. It now seems, he will no longer be able to return to films until he has fully recovered. This has also put plans for ‘Hindi Medium 2’ up in the air.
A source told The Asian Age, “Irrfan is recuperating slowly. He won’t be returning to acting for a while now. The process of healing is slow and exhausting. Even after full recovery, he won’t be allowed to get back to work for at least a year. So there is no question of doing Hindi Medium 2 or any other film in the immediate future.”
The report adds that director Saket Chaudhary, who was behind ‘Hindi Medium’, has move away completely from the sequel. It is not yet known how producer, Dinesh Vijan will be taking the franchise forward.
