As the Indian film industry produce more films within a year than ever before, filmmakers are attempting to build on different promotional strategiesfor their films, in order to get the audiences to watch them. However many famous names, such as Irrfan Khan don’t believe that these promotions actually work, where he even went on to reveal that hethinks promotions actually put a strain on the film instead.

Khan is currently in the midst of promoting his next release ‘Jazbaa’, where he will be seen opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Talking to the media,NDTVreported the actor say, “This (promotion) is a burden on filmmaking. We should have a limit on it and reduce the amount. Sometimes the ratio is 1:1. I think this is a waste of money.”

“The film suffers sometimes because of the large money spent on promotions. The burden of promotions inevitably comes on the film. And the directors and actors are judged by the business which the film is doing,” Khan went onto add.

To make it clear the actor isn’t dismissing the idea of promoting a film completely. His view on the matter is just about making things simple and realising that at the end of the day, it’s up to the audience to make their own decision about going to see that particular film. “Audience decides what to watch or not from the trailer. Besides that all what we are doing is filling the space. I don’t know how many people come to watch a film only because of promotions. Just an awareness and trailer – that’s enough for a film to get a fair audience,” he stated.

Helmed by Sanjay Gupta, ‘Jazbaa’ is set for release on 9th October. It also stars Shabana Azmi and Jackie Shroff.
