IPL rights tendering process to begin mid-July
With the current season of Indian Premier League behind us, the fight for television and digital rights for the next five years begins!
The tendering process will take place from 17th July, with national and international rights for the tournament up for grabs, as well as worldwide digital rights. Up until now, Sony Pictures Networks has been the exclusive telecast rights holder in India over the past ten years.
The rights for title sponsorship of the lucrative tournament will also be up after Vivo’s deal came to an end yesterday on conclusion of the final game. This tender will start from 31st May 2017.
Sony Pictures Networks is hoping to hold on to the rights, however will face stiff competition from Star TV India.
