IPL outperforms Shah Rukh show on STAR Plus

The race is on between two of this season’s biggest TV properties – the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket and the new Shah Rukh Khan show on STAR Plus.

Both shows went head to head for the first time this past weekend when actor King Khan’s show ‘Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain?’ went live.

The first round of statistics provided by ratings agency Audience Measurement and Analytics Ltd (aMap) for the period 25th – 27th April, indicate the IPL cricket shown on SET MAX in India had the upper hand.

SET MAX not only got higher average viewership ratings than STAR Plus between 20:00 and 21:00, when the quiz show aired, but the average time spent on SET MAX (40 minutes) was double what viewers spent on STAR Plus.

STAR Plus managed to get maximum average viewership ratings of 2.8 on 25th April, the day of the first episode of ‘Paanchvi Pass’ which declined to 1.8 on Sunday. SET Max on the other hand got a higher average rating of 3.2, 2.6 and 2.9 for IPL during the same 20:00 – 21:00 period on 25th, 26th and 27th April respectively.

STAR Plus is hoping ‘Paanchvi Pass’ would widen the gap over closest rival ZEE TV before the latter launches its dependable ratings winner ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ in July.

STAR Plus will be launching the Shah Rukh Khan gameshow in the UK in June.
