IPL media rights set at base rate of Rs. 33k crore for five years

The upcoming bid for the next cycle of IPL media rights have been set at a base rate of Rs. 33,000 crore for five years, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The tender was released on 29th March for the broadcast period of 2023 to 2027.

The media rights have been split into four categories – TV rights for the Indian sub-continent, digital rights for the Indian sub-continent, special games, and rest of the world (ROW) rights.

Star India holds the current rights of the IPL for the Indian sub-continent and global. Prior to this, Sony Pictures Networks had been the sole broadcaster for the IPL.

The tender document is available until 10th May 2022, with the e-auction set to kick-off on 12th June 2022.
