IPL 2025 set to be suspended amid India-Pakistan tensions
The future of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) hangs in the balance as tensions escalate between India and Pakistan.
While reports of a possible suspension have emerged following Thursday’s mid-match stoppage between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala due to air raid alerts in nearby regions, the tournament has not yet been officially called off.
IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal has stated that the league is awaiting directions from the Indian government before making a final decision. “It is on as of now,” he clarified, but acknowledged that the situation is being closely monitored given the volatile border conditions.

The uncertainty follows increased security measures across several northern districts, including Jammu, Pathankot, and Amritsar, where blackouts and air raid sirens were reported. The developments have led to concerns about the feasibility of continuing the tournament under current circumstances.
In the UK, broadcasters like Sky Sports may face programming disruptions if the tournament is paused. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has already been shifted to the UAE in response to regional instability.
