With the recent events that have taken place in India, Sudhir Mishra’s film ‘Inkaar’ – which deals with sexual harassment in the workplace – couldn’t have come at a better time. However, much of the promotions of the film face debates around the Dehli gang rape which seems to be taking the focus away from the film.

“Inkaar is a very topical and relevant film. The Delhi gang-rape case has sparked off a huge debate in society. Everyone is questioning and debating over whether women have the right or freedom to do as they please, and if men can infringe on women۪s right or see it as an invitation,” Hindustan Times report a source stating.

The source goes onto say, “Given the premise of the film, everyone is walking a tight rope in giving opinions. Ironically, both the lead actors are from Delhi and feel strongly about this issue. And whenever there have been outdoor promotions of the movie, a majority of the questions addressed to Arjun (Rampal) and Chitrangda (Singh) have been regarding the case, leaving them with no option but to talk at length about it over anything else.”

There has been much debate about the tragic incident and many accusations about society have been heard. Let’s just hope a film such as ‘Inkaar’ is able to portray certain messages that speak some truth about the way society is, and also how people are portrayed.
