‘Inkaar’, ‘Mumbai Mirror’ continue January lull at Indian box office

'Mumbai Mirror', 'Inkaar' fail to impress Indian audiences

Although neither ‘Inkaar’ nor ‘Mumbai Mirror’ can be classed as big releases, they seemed to hold much promise if one looked at the trailers and pre-release promotions and reviews. However, BizAsia can reveal that, although only pitted against each other in release this week, both movies are doing nowhere near as well as was expected.

According to One India Entertainment, ‘Mumbai Mirror’ hasn’t pulled in the audiences throughout India and it seems people are choosing releases of previous weeks over the new movie. Sachiin Joshi stars in the movie which sees him in his second outing following after 2011’s ‘Aazaan’.

Arjun Rampal and Chitrangada Singh starrer ‘Inkaar’ did well comparatively but still achieved less than reviews suggested. The weekend’s business will show exactly whether the film will see a rise in audience numbers but the first day was less than satisfactory.

It seems January is definitely ongoing in the unlucky stakes so far. Will ‘Race 2’ change that next week? Wait and watch!
