IndiaCast & Disney to end distribution deal

IndiaCast and Disney are on course to end their distribution deal in India.

According to Television Post, Disney will handle distribution of its channel internally. The portfolio of the Disney channels include Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, Hungama TV, Bindass, Bindass Play, UTV Movies and UTV Action.

The source reports that while the distribution deal is signed until March 2016, it could come to an end sooner on mutual grounds.

The joint venture between the two companies started with 72:26 in favour of IndiaCast. However, the partnership was dismantled last year due to laws changing in India, which did not allow content aggregators to bundle channels from more than one broadcaster. However, the two continued to work together on a distribution deal.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that CNN and IBN were divorcing after a ten-year association.
