The last time an Indian woman won the title of Miss Asia Pacific was 12 years ago when Dia Mirza represented the sub-continent. In 2012, Indian contestant, Himangini Singh Yadu, has won the international title again.
Originally from Indore, according to ZEE News, Singh Yadu also won the Miss Indore title in 2006. Talking about the contest, she says, “This is a dream come true! All the hard work, time and effort that my mentors have put in with me has paid off”.
Founder of I AM She – the beauty pageant that Singh Yadu was selected in – ex Miss UniverseSushmita Sen, was equally excited by the news, “We did it! The entire team is extremely happy and very proud of Himangini for winning the international title… She has so beautifully represented India and won us back that sweet taste of victory”.
