India ratings: ZEE TV faces heat from Sony TV

A resurgent Sony Entertainment Television Asia is giving ZEE TV a run for its money.

According to official Indian viewing data by TAM, ZEE TV was just three points ahead of Sony TV. ZEE TV has recorded 185 GRPs this week (last week 193) and Sony TV was just behind with 182 GRPs (last week 184). Moreover, ZEE TV’s top rated show ‘Pavitra Rishta’ has slid to number three with 4.6 TVR. Colors’ ‘Balika Vadhu’ and ‘Uttaran’ occupy the chart with 5.0 and 4.6 TVRs respectively. Star Plus�۪ ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ (4.5) and ‘Saathiya’ (4.1) were in fourth and fifth.

In another shocking development this week, Imagine TV has lost a massive 39 GRPs after enjoying over 100 GRPs for last two consecutive weeks. The channel has recorded 65 GRPs in week 29 (last week 104).

Star Plus remained on top garnering 320 GRPs this week (last week 309). Colors has emerged has the biggest gainer this week. The channel has recorded 271 GRPs in the 29th week of TAM 2011 (last week 252).

SAB TV too has retained its viewers and recorded 133 GRPs (last week 131).
