India ratings: Times Now catches up with Republic

After Arnab Goswami’s Republic coming out as the clear leader in the English news genre in India over the past few weeks, rival Times Now is catching up steadily.

According to official data (Urban & Rural) from BARC for Week 24 of 2017, Republic registered 964,000 million Impressions – down from 1054,000 million Impressions last week. Meanwhile Times Now was up and came out as stronger this week with 935,000 million Impressions (last week 748,000 million Impressions). Republic has been fast to send out mailing shots to the industry about its ratings success since its launch – see the latest mailshot image above.

The next batch of channels saw India Today Television in third with 317,000 million Impressions, BBC World News with 250,000 million Impressions and CNN News18 with 247,000 million Impressions. NDTV 24×7 dropped out of the Top 5 this week.
