India ratings: Star Plus stays top; ‘Chandrakanta’ opens well

Star Plus remained India’s most watched Hindi entertainment channel but it was shows from other channels that topped ratings on the programming front.

According to BARC data for Week 26 of 2017, Star Plus registered 409.246 million Impressions in the Urban region, followed by Colors with 376.490 million Impressions and ZEE TV moving up to No.3 with 340.530 million Impressions. In fourth place was Sony SAB TV with 301.045 million Impressions and Sony Entertainment Television in fifth with 269.822 million Impressions.

The most watched show in the Urban region was ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’ on ZEE TV with 6.407 million Impressions, followed by ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ also on ZEE TV with 6.402 million Impressions. ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ on Sony SAB TV was in third with 6.048 million Impressions. ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ on Star Plus was in fourth with 5.887 million Impressions and new show ‘Chandrakanta’ on Colors started with 5.025 million Impressions. The epic series was placed in third place when combined Urban and Rural data. In its combined data, ‘Chandrakanta’ delivered 8.679 million Impressions.

ZEE Anmol was the top rated Hindi entertainment channel in the Rural region with 470.357 million Impressions, followed by Rishtey with 432.128 million Impressions and Sony Pal in third with 375.197 million Impressions. ZEE TV was up to No.4 with 215.586 million Impressions and Star Utsav in fifth with 207.985 million Impressions.

The most watched show in the Rural region was ‘Naagin – Season 2’ on Rishtey with 6.398 million Impressions, followed by the match between West Indies and India on DD National with 5.837 million Impressions and ‘Jamai Raja’ on ZEE Anmol with 5.492 million Impressions.
