India ratings: Star Plus returns to top

Star Plus dislodged Colors from the No.1 position in the Urban market in India, according to official data from BARC for Week 48 of 2016.

Colors has been holding on to the top spot for a month, with Star Plus settling for No.2. However, the channels switched positions with Star Plus delivering 491.749 million impressions, followed by Colors with 431.666 million impressions and Sony Entertainment Television in third place with 304.766 million impressions. In fourth was ZEE TV with 283.185 million impressions and Sony SAB TV in fifth with 268.867 million impressions.

The top rated show in the Urban market remained ‘Naagin – Season 2’ on Colors with 10.214 million impressions, followed by ‘Saathiya’ on Star Plus with 7.781 million impressions and the movie ‘The Jungle Book’ on Star Plus at No.3 with 7.539 million impressions.

In the Rural market, Sony Pal held on to the leading position with 317.183 million impressions, followed by a re-surgent Rishtey with 297.108 million impressions and ZEE Anmol in third with 285.926 million impressions. Star Utsav slipped to No.4 with 265.624 million impressions and Star Plus was in fifth with 229.090 million impressions.

The top rated show in the Rural market was ‘Naagin – Season 1’ on Rishtey with 8.634 million impressions, followed by ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ on Star Utsav with 6.390 million impressions and ‘Baalveer’ on Sony Pal at No.3 with 6.002 million impressions.
