India ratings: Star Plus loses, Colors goes up

The latest round of Indian television ratings shows Star Plus, Colors and Sony Entertainment Television Asia losing viewership but ZEE TV has gained.

Firstly, Star Plus remains on top in the ratings for Week 24 of 2011 with 247 GRPs (last week 289), that’s a decline of 42 GRPs from the previous week.

Colors has also shed some points this week but it�۪s got closer to Star Plus. It has recorded 239 GRPs this week (last week 245), that’s just 8 points behind the market leader.

ZEE TV, which was just 2 points ahead of Sony TV last week, has now steamed ahead the fourth placed channel. It�۪s now 45 points ahead, with 208 points (183 GRPs last week).

Despite the success of ‘X Factor India’, Sony TV has lost 18 points this week. The channel has recorded 163 GRPs (last week 181).

SAB TV has added just 1 point this week, standing comfortably with 148 GRPs (last week 147).

The pulling power of ‘Swayamvar’ has re-ignited Imagine TV to attract its highest viewership in recent times. The channel has recorded 90 GRPs (last week 85).

In terms of shows, ‘Balika Vadhu’ has once again topped the charts for Colors – making it India’s most watched drama again after two years. It grabbed a TVR of 4.6 TVR, followed by ZEE TV’s ‘Pavitra Rishta’, which has been number one for many months. It garnered 4.5 TVRs. Third was Colors’ show ‘Uttaran’ with 3.4, followed by ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’ (3.3) and ‘Saathiya’ (3.2).
