While Star Plus conquers in UK ratings, the same success story is proving in India too, according to latest data from TAM.

Official figures for Week 6 of 2014 sees the channel clocking the biggest ever ratings in history after its recent strategy to increase weekday fictions to Saturday nights. All in all – Star Plus increased its audience by 101 TVT – a massive increase for any Indian channel ever. The 6-day week strategy has worked a treat, as well as the viewership for Star Guild Awards bringing in an impressive 8.1 TVM. Star Plus leads overall in every primetime slot except for 20:00 where it sits behind ZEE TV due to ‘Jodha Akbar’.

Star Plus delivered a massive 728 million – the biggest ever viewership for any GEC in a week. It had a relative share of 28.72% (last week 627 million TVT with 24.63% relative share).

ZEE TV was in a distant second place with 495 GVTM with a relative share of 19.53% (last week 468 million with 18.38% relative share).

Colors slid slightly to 424 million with a relative share of 16.73% (last week 447 million TVT with 17.56% relative share).

Star Life Ok was down also with 344 million (last week 387 million). The relative share of the channel was 13.57% this week against 15.20% in the previous week.

Sony SAB TV pulled in 292 million TVT with 11.52% relative share (last week 319 million TVT and 12.53% relative share).

Sony Entertainment Television Asia was down further to 252 million with a relative share of 9.94% relative share (last week 298 million TVTs with 11.70% of relative share).

In terms of Indian television entertainment shows, ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ continued to lead, followed by ‘Jodha Akbar’.
